چکیده
The main objective of this study was to assess the usefulness exhausted activated carbon-based filter cartridges for removal organic pollutants from aqueous solutions using example two model pollutants: synthetic dyes with different particle sizes, i.e., methylene blue (MB) and malachite green (MG). In order determine dyes’ adsorption mechanism, effects phase contact time, initial dye concentration, pH, temperature system were investigated. Langmuir Freundlich isotherm models employed analyze experimental data. Additionally, all adsorbents characterized in terms ash content, type porous structure, presence surface functional groups, pH value, iodine number—which is one quality control parameters carbons. Adsorption tests have shown that carbonaceous materials bottle filters jugs can be successfully used liquid phase. maximum sorption capacity adsorbent towards 333.06 mg/g, while case it 308.75 mg/g. For materials, a better fit data achieved than one. It has also been efficiency MB MG decreases increasing system—the best results obtained at 25 °C. A kinetics pseudo-second model.

Persistent organic pollutants: potential health effects?
It is not a point of debate that the Stockholm Convention for the prevention of further accumulation of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) should be ratified and implemented by all countries. However, in their article, Schafer and Kegley present an unbalanced "worst case scenario". Approximately 20% of the food supply of the US is contaminated with POPs at extremely low levels; these levels a...

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration believes chemical odor breakthrough is no longer an adequate, sufficient indicator for when workers should change chemical cartridges. Therefore, OSHA's 1998 revision to its respiratory protection standard, 29 CFR 1910.134, requires users of chemical cartridge respirators to implement a cartridge change schedule based on "objective information o...

Water pollution due to organic contaminants is a serious issue because of acute toxicities and carcinogenic nature of the pollutants. Among various water treatment methods, adsorption is supposed as the best one due to its inexpensiveness, universal nature and ease of operation. Many waste materials used include fruit wastes, coconut shell, scrap tyres, bark and other tannin-rich materials, saw...

Immobilization of catalysts on the surface of some inert supports makes therecovering step easier. Because of the specific physicochemical properties, zeolites are good candidate as catalyst supports. In this study, zeolite X was synthesized by natural kaolin and TiO2 was incorporated into zeolite phase by impregnation method. Degradation of Safranin Orange, methylene blue and 2,4–di...

In some industries, the temperature and the humidity will vary greatly between different work places, such as outdoor work in arctic or tropical climates. There is therefore a need to test respirator filters at conditions that simulate conditions that are relevant for the industries that they are used in. Filter cartridges were exposed to controlled atmospheres of varying isocyanate concentrati...
